Shawn Beard: Fencing the Future with Integrity Fencing

Shawn Beard started Integrity Fencing during the COVID pandemic. He had to leave his old job after foot surgery and decided to try his own business. At first, he had no truck, so he rented trailers and worked from his garage.

Shawn had a lucky break when his old company gave out his name for fence leads. He started small, doing jobs himself and saving money for tools and a truck. Over time, he grew from a one-man show to a big company with 25 trucks and a large office.

“My team makes me better—together, empowered, aligned, and making a difference.” ~ Shawn Beard

Now, Integrity Fencing makes over $10 million a year. Shawn has about 40 employees and several subcontractors. He started with nothing and now has a seven-acre facility in Littleton.

Shawn learned a lot from running other businesses before. He once owned a landscape company and a big mortgage company. After a tough divorce, he had to start over and found his way into fencing.

At first, Shawn did everything himself. He worked 16-hour days, did estimates, delivered materials, and managed crews. As he grew, he hired more people and built a strong team.

Shawn believes in doing things with excellence and clear communication. He wants customers to trust his company, so he makes sure they have a good experience. The company touches customers nine times during a project.

Shawn’s team is very important to him. He uses the acronym TEAM: Together, Empowered, Aligned, and Making a difference. He says his team makes him better and that everyone works together.

The company now has many departments, like sales, warranty, stain, and deck. Shawn says it’s important to know how each department affects the others. He compares it to a bike race where one mistake can affect everyone.

Shawn has changed how he hires people. Now, he does background checks and drug tests. He wants to make sure he has the right people on his team. Sometimes, he waits to hire until he finds the perfect fit.

Integrity Fencing offers financing through Wells Fargo. Customers can get approved in seconds. This has helped Shawn get more jobs and help more homeowners.

The company now works with national builders and municipalities. Shawn wants to grow even more in the next few years. He plans to expand north and maybe open a separate supply company.

Shawn is proud of how far he has come. He did not expect to be this successful. He is grateful for his team and the opportunities he has had.
